Abstract
Postoperative intestinal adhesive ileus continues to be a perplexing problem particularly because of its. extensibility of peritoneointestinal adhesion¢¥ and high recurrent rate after usual surgery, lysis only. Noble plication and Child-Phillips method¢¥`Transmesenteric mattress suture) were.. designed to prevent recurrent episodes gf Intestinal obstruction.
However, such a suture placation are not only time consuming, but also associated with sign; leant complication, fistula formation, perforation and intestinal loop avulsion.
In 1968, Barker reported a method of sutureless placation that was transjejunal long tube stented plication with minor complication and satisfactory result.
The author tried transjejunal long tube stented bowel plication for 13 cases of extensive postoperative ileus among 87 cases of the total which we experienced in the recent 10 years,
In 13 cases of long tube stented placation, we experienced good result with no recurrent rate and no considerable complications.
But, in the 65 cases of lysis only, we experienced 11 cases of recurrent intestinal obstruction. We are impressed that transjejunal long tube stented bowel placation is a sutureless placation which is more expeditious and simple plication procedure than other suture plication methods, and is very effective in intestinal splinting, contineous long term decompression over all of the small intestine, and preventing recurrent episodes of obstruction.
